Our CSA program runs for 20 weeks from June through October. The exact start date will be determined by the weather. We will notify CSA members of the start date two weeks before the first pick-up. Full shares average between 7 and 12 items per week, providing enough produce for a family of four for the week. Half shares average between 4 and 7 items and are half the volume, providing enough produce for two people for the week. The estimates as to how the produce will serve each family vary drastically with each individual’s cooking and eating culture. We have families of 2 that cook most of their meals at home and use a full share for two people, reporting this to be a generous amount. We also have groups of 5+ people split a full share and that works for them. Each week, expect to get salad greens and braising greens as well as other veggies. We will equip you with recipes to inspire your week’s cooking, keeping you and your family healthy and happy.

🍄 Mushroom Share 🍄
This year we are excited to offer a mushroom share as an add-on to the vegetable share. Shiitake and oyster mushrooms are grown by Alec Gifford in Danbury, CT. They are grown outdoors, organically on logs in a woodland setting with a commitment to the highest level of quality. These mushrooms are incredible and have made appearances in the 2016 & 2017 NHF CSA shares. This share will last a total of 6 weeks, picked up at the time of the vegetable CSA, to be purchased only as an addition to the full season CSA share. Mushroom shares are available in one size, with each member receiving ¾ pound of mushrooms each time during the 6 week season.
Mushrooms “bloom” in response to proper weather conditions, with harvests coming in the Spring and Fall. The six weeks will likely appear 3 weeks in June and 3 weeks towards the end of September into October, with the season’s weather being the deciding factor. The share will be a mixture of shiitake and oyster mushrooms. The cost is $75 for 6 weeks of mushrooms.
As this is our first year offering the share we will ask you to pay for the mushroom share only once we meet a minimum number of sign ups for the season. Please direct any questions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Fall share is new as of 2018 and lasts for the 4 weeks after the 20-week CSA ends. It will run from mid-October through mid-November, depending on when the 20 week CSA begins. This share will include 5 items weekly, an assortment of the following items: beets, carrots, turnips, winter squash, scallions, kale, collards, tatsoi, mesclun mix, and lettuce heads.
This share costs $100 for 4 weeks. Limited to 25 shares.
